At the official opening ceremony of the 2nd Global Fishery Forum and Seafood Expo, Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Dmitry Patrushev read a welcome address from Russian President Vladimir Putin to the event’s participants and guests:
“I would like to welcome the participants and guests of the 2nd Global Fishery Forum and Seafood Expo.
Business people, public officials and experts from many countries have gathered here, in St Petersburg, for the second time to discuss the pressing issues on the industry’s agenda. These include rational utilization of marine resources, promoting sustainable fishing and ensuring global food security. We in Russia prioritize these issues. A large-scale programme of fishery production capacity upgrades is under way and modern fish-processing factories and vessels are being built.
Importantly, your discussions and roundtables are complemented by a meaningful expo, offering insights into how leading Russian and international fishing and processing companies operate and into technical and technological innovations. This approach helps demonstrate the capabilities of potential partners and facilitates a more open and substantial conversation, so it is clearly conducive to emergence of joint initiatives and projects for developing collaboration and business cooperation.
I wish you every success and all the best.”
