The Federal Agency for Fishery (Rosrybolovstvo) has hosted a meeting of the Organizing Committee of the 3rd Global Fishery Forum & Seafood Expo (2019).
The events will take place on 10–11 July 2019 at St. Petersburg’s Expoforum Convention and Exhibition Centre. This means that, during the coming season, Russia will welcome Forum participants on the eve of its national Fisherman’s Day, observed on the second Sunday in July.
Participants in the meeting discussed a number of organizational matters. Plans for 2019 include expansion of the Expo’s area and broader geographical participation. Exhibitors have already started actively booking booths at the Expo.
A task has been set to improve the operations of the venues hosting Forum events. Registration of participants will be simplified and will start earlier in the new season.
A specially established task force will soon look into incoming proposals for the Forum’s business programme, session keynotes and roundtable topics.
International efforts are under way to invite foreign delegations and have the agenda approved.
In 2017 and 2018, the Global Fishery Forum & Seafood Expo took place in September. The keynote of the first forum was “A global view of fishing in the World Ocean: cooperation or competition?”, while the second one focused on “Global fishing activities 2050: Resources, markets, technologies.”
More that 1,100 Forum delegates and over 3,000 Expo exhibitors and visitors took part in the 2018 events. Participants from 42 countries attended the Forum, including from Norway, Germany, Iceland, Mauritania, Morocco, China, South Korea, the United States and Japan. The Expo’s area expanded from 8,000 to 13,000 square metres, while the share of international participants rose by 250%. More that 150 Russian and foreign journalists were accredited to the event. The Forum & Seafood Expo is organized by the Federal Agency for Fishery, and the Forum is operated by Roscongress Foundation.
