Sakhalin – St. Petersburg: Fishing industry discussion to continue at fishery forum

A conference devoted to technical regulation and veterinary certification in the fishing industry organized by the All-Russian Association of Fish Breeders, Entrepreneurs and Exporters (AAFBEE) was held in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk on 27 July.

Representatives of the Sakhalin Region Administration, the Federal Agency for Fishery, ministries and federal and state institutions discussed issues concerning the entry into force of the Technical Regulation of the Eurasian Economic Union “On the Safety of Fish and Fishery Products”. The event was attended by Minister (Collegium member) for Technical Regulation of the Eurasian Economic Commission Valery Koreshkov, Chairman of the Sakhalin Region Government Vera Shcherbina, Deputy Head of the Federal Fisheries Agency Pyotr Savchuk, Deputy Director of Rosselkhoznadzor Nikolay Vlasov, and President of the Russian Association of Fishermen German Zverev.

The conference addressed important topics for the fishing industry, including electronic veterinary certification and technical regulation systems in the fish product safety. The event participants were also invited to continue the discussion at the Global Fishery Forum in St. Petersburg.

“The Global Fishery Forum will serve as a platform for a discussion of key issues in the fishing industry. An open dialogue needs to be held between representatives of ministries, associations, and fisheries enterprises in order to make joint decisions and improve cooperation mechanisms”, German Zverev said.

The Global Fishery Forum & International Exhibition for Fishery, Seafood and Knowhow will take place on 14–16 September in St. Petersburg at the Lenexpo Exhibition Complex.
